Despite all the warnings our Lord issued regarding the climate of these last days – apostasy, heretics, doctrines of demons and silly people panting after anyone who will scratch itching ears – today many who profess Christ appear oblivious as they are sucked into the vortex of trendy movements while “doing church” (Matthew 24:24, 26; Mark 13:22; 2 Peter 2:1; 2 Timothy 4:3). It is difficult watching loved ones, friends, and life-long church members depart at alarming rates, but I truly believe this is fulfillment of 1 Peter 4:17.
Chasing after teachings which contrast doctrine found in the scripture is akin to chasing dandelions in a gust of wind but of far greater consequence. The bible is Holy Spirit inspired, inerrant, and the infallible revelation of God and a believers first defense against deception. God has promised destruction to false teachers/prophets Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Jude.
Nevertheless, it is devastating to watch people we care about plummet off the cliff to join the masses who march along the broad path. We must pray the gospel is heard and received, and find strength in the truth that God loves them far more than we do.
Arnold Murray – False Prophet & Teacher
Failure to understand and search the scriptures leads to sloppy exegesis and is as dangerous to the soul as poison. False Teachings & “Prophecies” by Murray of Shepherd’s Chapel:
- “Armageddon will commence June 8-9, 1985, in a valley of the Alaskan peninsula.”
- “All people had existence prior to coming to earth during the ‘first earth age'”. Murray rejects the Genesis account of Creation as taking place in 6 literal days, which attempts to legitimize evolution. Shepherd’s Chapel teaches the anti-Biblical concept that all humanity possessed ‘soul bodies’ during a supposed ‘first earth age’ prior to the Fall.
- Serpent Seed – a vile teaching that claims Eve had intercourse with Satan to conceive Cain who was the first of the Kenites whereas Abel resulted from the marital copulation of Adam and Eve.
- Denial of Blessed Hope. In 1994, newsletter 193, Murray wrote, “The rapture is a false doctrine”. .In newsletter #205, November 1995, Murray states, ” Many who believe in the rapture will be deceived into worshiping the anti-Christ”, and taking it further in newsletter #116, June 1988, he wrote, “Over 90 percent of the churches that teach the rapture will accept the anti-Christ as savior.” (Possible if not kept by the Holy Spirit …)*
- Denial of the Triune Godhead. Murray teaches modalism, the idea that God is one person with three modes (attributes). Rejected for many years by the church as being at variance with sound doctrine, Murray persists in spreading this heresy, which belies his claim to both rebirth in Christ and, most certainly, office of pastor.
- Of all who disagree with the-bible-according-to-Murray results in sophomoric name calling, i.e. ‘liar, deceiver, idiot, loser …’.

El Shaddai says of this man:
“But the Prophet that shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that speaketh in the name of other gods, even the same Prophet shall die. When a Prophet speaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not nor come to pass, that Prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not therefore be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:20-22
Scripture warns that we must “rightly divide the Word of truth” 2 Tim 2:15, and John cautions us not to “believe every spirit … because many false prophets are in the world” 3 Jo 4:1.
Murray’s Denial of Trinity
Murray teaches the heresy of modalism- on a May 15, 1991 broadcast of Shepherd’s Chapel, he said, “A wise man never discusses the Trinity.” Scripture teaches us God exists in Three Persons:
“Yet unto us there is but one God, which is that Father, of whom are all things, and we in him, and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” 1 Corinthians 8:6
and, as to the Holy Spirit (Greek: Paraklete – Helper) the third member of the Godhead, sent to indwell all reborn in Christ upon His ascension to the Father, we read:
“But the Comforter, which is the holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my Name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, which I have told you.” John 14:26

Someone far removed from the Chapel cult – 95% of what he teaches is religious fantasy. He correctly refutes the pre-trib doctrine which is the maul he uses to convert people to his false religion. Dispensationalist try to argue against his followers on this point and only confirm the chapel students in their delusion and vindication of Murray. I will also state that one most certainly does not need to go to school to preach the word of God. The teachings of the church and their beliefs is the same people who crucified Christ, are they not. Also once again attacking someone you don’t believe is it not a reflection. God Bless and be wise to speak with only love in your hearts. The Holy Spirit through the elect will fight when its time. Agreed. Often studied laypersons are less influenced by higher criticism, rationalization and the like from university. Interestingly, Murray claims a Ph.D. yet never reveals where he attained it, why? No, I certainly do not teach Judaism or anything other than what is found in Holy Writ; thus, being reborn in the Lord Jesus Christ I most certainly elevate and worship Him quite contrary to the Romans and Jews who crucified the King of Glory. However, clearly my sin and your sin hung Him on that tree. These last days are rife with deception, albeit some more subtle than others, and I am not called to love those which sow deception but to call them out and herald a warning to the brethren. This is the call of all believers, warn of false doctrine.

We will not be in the fight for it is Christ Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords who shall slay the wicked with the word of His mouth; and we who are His shall watch and praise His Holy Name. Amen. I have a friend who follows Murry. She studies her bible daily, watches Murry daily, prays daily. I really feel helpless to help her because she confides all her thoughts and beliefs to me. She believes in all the things Murry preaches, an earlier earth age, the serpent seed, the deception of Christians over the antichrist, etc.. She is so sincere and seems to have truly gotten close to God over the past 10 years because of the loss of loved ones. She searches for the “truth” so fervently, and loves God completely. My heart aches for her, because to me it seems that what is right in front of her “God’s Word” is too simple or just not enough. She believes the bible and God to be far more complex than we can imagine, and she is probably correct. But we can’t fall victim to things dreamed up by humans. I wonder if Satan hasn’t attacked her relationship with God and leading her astray. She says she knows of all the accusations about Murry. But she says if you just listen to him, he makes so much sense, and he knows the bible so well, and he is so sincere. She even openly challenges her own church pastor and Sunday school teachers – and so far, they do not know how to respond to her. No matter how mislead, it is hard to argue with someone so convicted.

Thanks for the positive feedback. To God be the glory! Same with my cousin, “He is so sincere … knows his bible.” What is so infuriating about Murray is his tendency to always make the claim that the Word of God is too difficult to understand on our own. Yet, as you know, this is contrary to what God says about scripture. In fact, someone determined that the KJV is written in such a way that a fifth grader can comprehend it. Also, God wants us to know Him and determined to reveal His Son and His character through both testaments so not only is it easy to understand but our Father went further and promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth. Alas, false teachers “lord over” others their so-called special insight and wisdom again a treasonous sin against the Triune Godhead for Jesus Christ the Lord admonishes that believers not be as the world. Yet another indication that Murray is a false teacher.
When we pray in accordance with God’s will we know that He hears us and answers our prayer. Certainly God is well aware of all false teachers for He has promised to judge such; moreover, God knows the wiles of the devil and promises those who diligently seek Him with all their heart will find Him. Perhaps God is permitting this ‘season of error’ in order to raise up your friend to become a defender of truth and equip her to speak out against Mr. Murray.
Articles on Shepherd’s Chapel are of the most active on EZC which encourages me that the truth is getting out there and we must pray that those deceived by Murray be set free by the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God bless.

I have never heard Mr. Murray say that he is a prophet or anything close to that as a matter of fact I have heard him say just the opposite. He tells everyone to read for themselves and check the word for themselves. I do agree that sometimes he may be a little attacking on new comers who don’t understand something. However I agree with him that the Son of perdition (anti Christ) will be revealed before Christ returns. So no rapture before this tribulation period sorry. If you want me to quote scripture I will but as of now I feel like it isnot needed. I also think leading a married woman toward fears of her husband and mother in law is premature since you only have a few comments from only one side of the subject. You quote scripture to your advantage to persecute someone you believe is wrong. God is the only Judge. Your testing of the spirit goes against what you are stating. Mr. Murray states very clearly and without hesitation that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and walked amongst us in the flesh born of woman. Let me also say just because someone gets something wrong or doesn’t understand something the way most others do does not make him a false prophet. It makes him a man. It seems that you are more interested in attacking him as a man who has made mistakes then you are of understanding scriptures true purpose. That is to try our best to follow Gods word, not just part of it but all of it. We are supposed to wipe the dust from our feet and move on if it is someone we believe to be false. The time to fight is not yet and if it was the Holy Spirit would speak through you to affirm the false one. I haven’t heard the Holy Spirit speak one word in your attack on Mr. Murray. However I don’t believe everything he says and why should I because no man knows everything about scripture and there will be many of us who will miss interpit some scripture not because were false or false prophets but because if we did and we were perfect then we would be stating no need for Christ Salvation. First, it matters not if a man promotes himself as a prophet for God defines what qualifies one as a prophet and false prophet Deut 18:20-22. You know not my position on the rapture. Repeatedly the Lord Jesus Christ warns us to test the spirits, examine the teaching, if anything does not align with what God has already spoken, whether OT or NT, avoid such teachers.

So true regarding that last comment made by Liam58. Murray is very similar to Jehovah’s Witness’ from what I’ve seen. His followers are highly into confrontation and arguing, and they do not get council from a group, which helps ensure sound doctrinal teaching. Sadly I was contacted by my biological father not long ago and he is blinded by Murray’s teaching. I was horrified by his approach and dogmatic nature, which I’ve seen among other Murray followers. The tone and tenor of their writings reveal their heart. We need to have more than one or two Bible teachers we go to–I always suggest John MacArthur for one alternate source, then someone like Charles Stanley–easy to understand and true. Also, a teacher’s credentials need to be known since so many schools do not teach the truth. Bottom line, the battle is not against flesh and blood and Murray is a false prophet spreading lies about the King of Kings and Word of God.

You are a fool. Read or listen to what Murray saispd more closely, if you have the ability, and you MIGHT be able to understand what he is saying. I mean open your bible and follow along, use your strongs, go very slowly, then , maybe, you might get it.

Some people that have watched and listened to this Murray fellow have opened their Bible. I am one of them. It makes no difference to me whether a rapture happens or not. All I know is that I am of Jesus Christ, and I know that the anti-christ will not be the one I follow. I love Jesus too much, and will still by Him and His word if that means that I die doing so.
I do not believe that Arnold Murray is correct in much of any of his teachings. For one there was not a prior earth age, and God did not make any other human beings prior to Adam. Adam (mankind) is the crown jewel of His creation, and the supposed Kenites (which sons of Cain did not live past the flood), are another form of racism. He is a false teacher when he says the end is coming. Because Jesus said, “No one knows the day or the hour in which I shall come.” False teachers coming out of the “wood pile” or wolves stalking the lambs of the Lord’s flock, will become more and more as the time for Christ’s return. And calling a person an idiot and not understanding just because they are not as deluded as Arnold Murray (he does degrade folks) does is not the work of a pastor. Pastor’s are suppose to feed His sheep, not beat them.

I need help because my very intelligent fiance’ has been a student for some time. His mother would have grabbed onto anyone to leave the catholic church. Unfortunately, it was this fool. She has convinced her son to follow Murray and he has been studying for years under Murray’s demise. When I bring up the false doctrine and turn to the bible, they get angry, and very defensive. I don’t need to be defensive about God’s truth. The serpent seed doctrine is nowhere to be found in the scripture, and if a far fetched were true… How can they even claim Kenites, after the flood. When I ask this of him, he claims they had sneaked on the Ark…..how ludicris. Before we got engaged, I told him I thought we might be unequally yoked and he insisted that he was a born-again believer and we just had different doctrine. When he visits my church (because he has none—–because there is no one who “believes” like him….Clue?? Anyway, I attend Calvary Chapel, also a verse by verse expository preaching….but they don’t rant and rave, name-call and act condescending toward others. But, if he visits and we are talking about the rapture, I see a mean spirit come over him and he relentlessly thumbs through his King James with Bullinger companion bible, which causes him to miss most of the message. I think false teachers are being utilized to teach “false doctrine” so that we miss the “doctor” I’m almost wondering if you can deny the trinity, as Murray and still be saved. When i hear Murray, it alerts my spiritman, and I’ve requested that we not support this ministry in marriage and I not have the tapes in my house. He can listen in his car, or download and listed with ear plugs. All he or his mother do is say, “how can you miss it, its in the word of God” and all there misconceptions I look up in my bible and with my strongs and dont see it. Maybe the Spirit that guides me is different.??…I love this man, but am growing weary of his alegiance to this Murray and feel that both he and his mother have made this man their god. His mother even told me that her daughter who recently passed, is in heaven because she believed in Murray…..WHAT? I pray that she is in heaven because she believed in the saving blood of the cross through the sacrifice of Jesus. Please let me know if anyone has had these experiences…..I feel that my fiance’ is brainwashed and afraid to go against his mother. Now his mother is trying to come between us….and she said she is praying for my soul……I’ve been a Christian for 25 years…followed faithfully, loved many, served gave fellowshipped and authored books for Christ. As Christians we understand the commandments serve to protect us as God is a loving Father; as we mature in Christ we are blessed with spiritual discernment through studying scripture: “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Heb 5:13-14 The fact that your fiance displays visible anger or frustration under Bible preaching indicates he will only ramp up the attempt to “convert” you to Arnold Murray’s way of thinking. As to your future mother-in-law (MIL), Catholics don’t study the Bible; thus, no they possess understanding of God, His Son (not the eucharist version in which ‘mary’ is co-redemptrix), or the prophecies fulfilled in Christ’s first advent and future second advent. Cults result in spiritual abuse, and in Romanism the pope self-appoints as ‘vicar’ and claims infallibility, all catholics must submit to the headship of papacy. Spiritual abuse involved in cults makes people like your future MIL easy pickin’ for the likes of Murray; however, one reborn in Christ can point out error, as you have done, it is she who must take responsibility for her own salvation. Moreover, if your future MIL holds such sway over the opinion of her son marriage will only guarantee her control will continue making your married life very unhappy.
Murray, false teacher/prophet:
Deut 18:20-22 provides clear depiction of what classifies a false prophet. Accordingly, Arnold Murray qualifies for both false teacher and false prophet, just a few examples in Murray’s own words: 1 “which was our 1981. With this being the year 1980 we will not have to wait long to see it. Characteristics of cults as well is elevation of teacher/leader to ‘messiah’ status, classic example Jim Jones; thus, MIL-to-be statement that her “daughter is in heaven because she believed Murray” reveals how deeply she equates salvation with following Murray! This is a spirit of arrogance and a spirit of anti-Christ. Tina, reborn in Christ it is the Holy Spirit who guides you, juxtaposed to the spirit guiding both your fiance and his mom. We read, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:” Jn 16:13; “But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.” Mt 23:8; “Sanctify them in truth: thy word is truth” Jn 17:17.
As to “kenites”, Murray seeks to elevate himself against the very Word of God! Noah and his family alone survived the global deluge. Murray is evil and operates in demonic doctrine as your own examples convey. The false church is comprised of tares and is erected alongside the Bride of Christ during these last days in which great apostasy is rampant due to men rejecting sound doctrine in favor of doctrines of demons. This is mystery Babylon, the religious harlot under which the world unites under the False Prophet, Beast and anti-Christ. We read, “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Re 17:5–6 We must exercise spiritual discernment and heed our Lord’s warning: “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Mt 24:4–5 and that of His apostles: “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.” Eph 5:6-8“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” 1 Jn 4:1–3

I, too, have watched A. Murry (Shepherd’s Chapel) long enough to know he is a false teacher. He WRINGS HIS HANDS an awful lot, which in my opinion could be very telling of his spirit–WRINGING OF HANDS is a sign of worry, anxiety, distress. I knew an older woman, who turned out to be a con artist in the community. She provided a false name/address and circumstances to get the vet and pharmacist to give her cats free services and meds. She got a realtor to try to “sell” her house, but she never intended to sell it, she just wanted someone to do things for her in the hopes that they would earn a commission when the house sold (that never did. She was about 65 with MS and needed help. That’s how I met her, at the Post Office–she needed someone to go in and get her mail. It went from that to helping her go grocery shopping, etc.) She had been a realtor in her younger days, who rented houses and then would not provide an accurate physical address when tenants needed to take her to court for her withholding the security deposit when they moved out. There would be several P. O. Box addresses, or other addresses of homes that she rented, so these victims of her slick tricks could not win their case since she could never be found and served. I went to the courthouse to find about 20 cases with her name on it of people or businesses trying to get restitution to no avail. She was a person who took everything she could, and never gave, though she claimed to be a Christian. She was also a horder; the whole house was jam packed with junk, only a narrow path to walk around in. I could go on and on of the lying and cheating this woman had done, and was doing. This woman had a habit of WRINGING HER HANDS. By the time she tried to rip me off, I had concluded that she was a sociopath. She was a nervous wreck, WRINGING HER HANDS almost constantly. When I see A. Murry up there WRINGING HIS HANDS, I can’t help but think of that con artist old woman.

My grandmother and aunt keep talking on about this man, and I got to say, it was bringing me a bad feeling in my stomach. Finally my grandmother brings me some piece of paper from his church, and I couldn’t bear to hold it for long. It scared me out of my wits. I read about three words on it, and said “This is not the words of the Lord”, I just had that feeling, y’know.
Remember where the bible says that these false prophets will deceive the elect? Matthew 24:24? When I read your page, after googling for something on this man being a false prophet, I remembered this verse. My aunt is one of “the elect”, so to speak. She’s heard from God before, yet she believes this man.
I’m telling you, just read the bible for yourselves. Pray to God for guidance if you don’t understand something!

God warned us, ” My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Ho 4:6 and today we are seeing the sad fulfillment of this as so many do not read the Word of God preferring instead the “word” of men. May God use us to lovingly convict those we love of this grave error and bring them back to the only inerrant Truth – the Bible.

I have read about and watched some videos of Arnold Murray’s interpretation of the Bible and frankly I don’t understand how someone could be so far in left field. He is being deceived and all those that follow him like a pied piper are going to be in for a surprise someday.
When you get a false teacher like that, you can’t reason with their “devoted” but blind followers.
All we can do is pray for him and his poor misguided followers.

Agreed. As with many proponents of false doctrine, Murray has hoodwinked hearers into believing the lie that only he understands the scripture. A cousin of mine has been impacted by his false teachings and, in part, this motivated the post. Some comments were so angry they are not posted. Prayer is the most powerful weapon against false teachers and to implore the Lord Jesus Christ to intervene and reveal Himself to all seduced by deceiving spirits.

I agree. A friend of mine is being deceived by this poor excuse for a teacher. We have had discussions about his non-Biblical “Serpent Seed” teaching a few times, and every time she defends this teaching. And don’t get me started on his anti-Rapture ramblings. This man makes me so angry, I could scream.

As mentioned in previous articles, Murray falsely applies an occult practice of people “flying away” to “save their souls” (See Murray: Newsletter #193, Nov. 1994, Prepare to Meet Your God, and Newsletter #262, Aug. 2,000), his is a false interpretation of : Ez 13:17-23 “Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Thus says the Lord in 1 Co 15:50-53, “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality; and,
1 Th 4:13-18 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
Revelation details angels blowing trumpets, “And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.” (Rev 8:6) First trump (8:7), second (8:8-9), third (8:10-11), fourth (8:12-13), fifth (9:1-12), sixth (9:13-21). Of the seventh (last trump) we read, “And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” (Re 10:5-7. read vv 1-4)
I do not believe scripture supports LaHaye/Jenkins ‘secret rapture’ view (Mt 24:23-27 Ac 1:11, Rev 1:7). Nevertheless, Jesus’ promise of rapture/resurrection is clear, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know” (Jn 14:1-4). The next few verses are crucial, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” (Jn 14:6-7)
Scripture teaches the anti-christ will be revealed before Jesus gathers His saints, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” (2 Th 2:1-9) Further, verse 8 correlates with the Glorious Appearing or Day of the Lord (compare: Dan 7:10-11; 2 Th 2:19, 2 Tim 4:1; Rev 2:16, 19:15-21).
The Lord Jesus Christ promises His own will not be deceived, “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you
. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.” (Jn 14:25-28) Thus, Murray warning “There will be no rapture; however, if you believe the rapture theory, Satan might use this fact to deceive you” (#193) is not biblical.
John, “god will give them minds of children to believe the lie” is not a verse found in the Bible. God is clear that those who are unsaved will believe the lie for rejection of the truth (the Word, Christ), “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Th 2:10-12) If this is something Murray teaches it further evidences his propensity to bend text to support his view.
Jesus teaches, “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 18:3, 19:14; Mk 10:14; Lk 18:6; little children Jn 13:13) The apostles often use the same endearment, but never derogatorily for knowledge of God (His Word) is wisdom. “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” (1 Cor 1:24)
Persecution is increasing as Christ said it would and His command is to occupy and endure preaching the Gospel to all trusting God to save. Offensive is Murray’s implication that trusting in the Lord’s return for His own results in “sitting around doing nothing”. Quite the opposite!

He’s actually right with his refutation of the pre-trib; he uses Dave MacPherson’s book on this… it is this simple issue that makes him so hard to contend with; his followers know he is correct about the pre-trib deception so when they are confronted with someone from the dispensational church they come ready to duke it out…
